The body of a 46-year-old Indian national was found lying motionless at a staircase landing at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) on April. 23.

Case 8,190 fell from height

He was Case 8,190, a Covid-19 patient.

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 19, and had been warded at KTPH.

In an update on April 24 by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the cause of death for the deceased was multiple injuries consistent with those sustained from a fall from height.

Case 8,190's death was not due to complications from Covid-19.

Deceased had been hospitalised for four days

He was in the hospital for four days before he was found lying motionless at a staircase landing in KTPH.

The police have classified this case as unnatural death.

The deceased had been working in Singapore for over 10 years.

He was a construction worker and had stayed with the same employer since his arrival in Singapore more than 10 years ago.

Background checks did not reveal any complaints against the employer, said MOM.

The worker's accommodation, a factory-converted dormitory operated by his employer, was found to be in acceptable condition.

"At the time, it housed nine workers (including the deceased), less than the approved capacity for factory-converted dormitories," said the ministry.
