37-year-old man arrested for allegedly stealing 9 statues from Geylang temple

He will be charged in court tomorrow.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking.

According to the news release, the Police were alerted to the case at a temple along Geylang Road on April 27, 2:10pm.

A total of nine statues were reported missing.

Through follow up investigations and the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

The man will be charged in court on Wednesday (April 29) with housebreaking under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police also advise all property owners to secure all openings when leaving the premises unattended and refrain from keeping large sums of cash at any premises.
