As part of the Covid-19 circuit breaker (CCB) mode, the number of people who were allowed into the Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre at one time has been restricted.

Limited number of people allowed in

According to a Facebook user who visited the market on Tuesday, April 7, which is Day 1 of the CCB period, only a maximum of 100 people were allowed into the market at one time.

A picture captured on Day 2 of the CCB period showed a snaking queue outside the market waiting to get in.

While the wet market is operating as usual, the area was cordoned off as well to limit access to the public.

The current scene at the wet market is a far cry from the usual bustling sight before the CCB measures kicked in on April 7.

No dining out now

Food-related services, such as supermarkets, wet markets and convenience stores, still remain open during the CCB mode.

However, only takeaways and food delivery services are allowed.

Dining in at food and beverage outlets is no longer allowed.

All social gatherings of any size in both private and public spaces have also been banned under a new Bill passed in Parliament on Tuesday, Apr. 7.
