The government will waive the Foreign Worker Levy that is due in April 2020.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat made the announcement in Parliament on Apr. 6, as part of the Solidarity Budget.

Heng said that employers should take care of workers on work permits and S-Passes during this period of circuit breaker measures.

To help ease labour costs, the government will waive the monthly Foreign Worker Levy due in April 2020.

The government will also provide employers with a Foreign Worker Levy Rebate of S$750 for each work permit or S Pass holder.

This is based on previous levies paid in 2020.

Rebates will be disbursed to employers as early as Apr. 21, 2020.

Heng added that this will help employers to preserve their business structure and quickly resume operations after the four weeks have passed.

The Ministry of Manpower will share further details.
