FairPrice will now be applying a service fee of S$3.99 for all online orders, a fee which was first introduced in early March, but had been waived until now.
This will take effect from April 16, 8pm onwards.
According to FairPrice, the fee will partially cover the total costs of processing, picking and packing online grocery orders.
Hiring more staff to increase delivery capacity
FairPrice also announced that they have hired and trained about 150 staff to become pickers and packers, increasing the number of delivery slots available by 25 per cent.
New delivery slots are gradually released throughout the day.
The company promised to hire more staff in the coming weeks, and further increase their online capacity by another 30 per cent, by converting a brick-and-mortar FairPrice store into another dedicated fulfilment centre for online orders.
In addition, FairPrice will also introduce a multi-tiered delivery fee structure, with the delivery fee waived for orders of S$79 and above.
There will be a delivery fee of S$3 for orders between S$59 and S$79, while a delivery fee of S$5 will apply for orders below S$59.
According to the company, this will provide more flexibility for shoppers to vary their basket sizes and optimise savings for their online purchases.
FairPrice also promised a transparent pricing approach, with no hidden mark-ups, and uniform prices between their online platform and their brick-and-mortar stores.
