32-year-old Indian national dies at home after swabbing at NCID, tests positive for Covid-19 posthumously

The Ministry of Health has announced 142 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, Apr. 8.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in Singapore to 1,623.

There are also a total of 72 new unlinked cases reported by MOH on Wednesday.

32-year-old dies at home following swab test at NCID

MOH also revealed that Case 1,604, a 32-year-old male Indian national, passed away in his residence on Wednesday.

The Long Term Pass holder was swabbed for Covid-19 at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases a day ago on Apr. 7, and was subsequently advised to stay at home while awaiting test results.

His chest X-ray at the time indicated that he did not have pneumonia.

Following his death, the man was confirmed to have Covid-19.

Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the cause of his death.

S'pore so far has 6 Covid-19 deaths

There are currently six deaths caused by Covid-19.

The most recent death on Apr. 4 was an 88-year-old male Singapore Permanent Resident.

He had a history of heart and kidney disease, cancer and diabetes. Subsequently, he developed serious complications and eventually succumbed to the infection.

The other five deaths involved older patients with histories of multiple prior health conditions.
