On Apr. 7, 2020 at about 7.30pm, the police were alerted to a case along Lorong Melayu.

Someone had been hit by a plastic pellet.

Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man.

He was then arrested on Apr. 9, 2020.

The perpetrator who was arrested was a 47-year-old man. He was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act and possession of arms without a licence.

18 airsoft guns with pellets were seized.

Airsoft guns or any other guns which shoot pellets using compressed gas are regulated as "arms" under the Arms & Explosives Act.

Without a licence, no one can possess arms. Similarly, it is an offence to import or export arms or explosives without a licence.

If you are caught possessing arms without a licence, you will be liable on conviction to a fine of up to S$5,000 for each gun, and imprisonment of up to three years.

The offence of importing or exporting any arms or explosives carries an imprisonment term not exceeding three years and a fine of up to S$10,000.

The offence of rash act under the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment of up to 6 months, or a fine of up to $2,500, or both.

Investigations are ongoing.
