Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were confirmed to have Covid-19 earlier today.

They are currently on the set of an Elvis movie they're filming in Australia.

They decided to get tested as they "felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches" and a slight fever.

Despite the news, Hanks was upbeat in his Facebook post, promising to "keep the world updated".

Their son, Chet Hanks, talked to them after the announcement, and gave an update on their situation.

Here is his Instagram post:

"What's up everyone? Um, yeah, it's true, my parents got coronavirus. Crazy.

They're both down in Australia right now, cos my dad was shooting a movie down there. Um, but I just got off the phone with them.

They both are fine, they're not even that sick, they're not worried about it, they're not trippin', but they're going through the necessary health precautions, obviously.

But uh, I don't think there's anything to be too worried about, I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes, but I think it's all gonna be alright. Well, I appreciate it, and everybody just stay safe out there. Much love."
