On Mar. 18, 2020 Malaysia enforced a lockdown as part of its measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The lockdown, which will last until the end of the month (Mar. 31), meant that Malaysians will not be leaving their country.
Visitors and tourists are also barred from entering.
As a result, many were left scrambling for alternative arrangements, as they crossed borders daily to work in Singapore.
To ensure that their services are not affected, transport companies have made living arrangements for their staff.
One of the SBS' staff, named Joe Lim, was apparently so moved by the company's assistance that he wrote a Facebook post to express his gratitude.
Here's a translation of the caption:"Malaysia's lockdown has been a blow to the bus captains who travel between the countries daily.
We were at a loss when we heard the news. Our jobs, families, and living arrangements have been troubling us. Thankfully, the company is helping us through this crucial period.
Besides arranging for hotel accommodation (in Singapore), they are also giving us a daily allowance of S$20 each. Even though I did not receive the welfare as I live in Singapore, I'm happy on behalf of my colleagues.
The company cares and looks out for us, and it makes me feel honoured to be an SBS captain. Thankful to the company for such arrangements."
The post was accompanied by some photos, presumably of the bus captains' living arrangement.
Sweet.
