12-year-old Raffles Institution student infected with Covid-19 discharged from hospital

He is also linked to the cluster at SAFRA Jurong.

A 12-year-old Raffles Institution student who was infected with Covid-19 has been discharged from hospital on March 7.

Linked to Safra Jurong cluster

According to the Ministry of Health, he is Case 96 and was confirmed to be infected with the virus on Feb. 27.

He was hospitalised for nine days.

He has been on medical leave since Feb. 21 and is linked to a Case 94, a 64-year-old female Singapore citizen who is a family member.

Both of them in turn are linked to the cluster at the private dinner function at Safra Jurong on Feb. 15.

Schoolmates and the Minister for Education send their support

The student received support from both the Minister for Education, Ong Ye Kung, and his fellow schoolmates while he was warded at an isolation room at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH).

In wishing the student and his family a speedy recovery, Ong also praised the student for being "considerate" and not going to school when he felt unwell.

School suspended for a day for disinfection

In the meantime, Raffles Institution has since implemented a series of precautionary measures, including the suspension of school on Feb. 28 for a thorough disinfection.

The school had previously taken precautionary measures instructed by MOE, such as the suspension of assemblies, staggering of recess times and suspension of all external school activities.
