The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) is looking for a suspect who may have injured at least two pigeons in Jurong using blowgun darts.

In a Facebook post on Mar. 2, the animal protection organisation said that a pigeon was rescued on Feb. 28 with a dart in its body.

A second pigeon was seen with two darts in its body, but managed to fly away from the rescuers.

The exact location of the incident was Block 864 Jurong West Street 81.

ACRES has identified the darts to be blowgun darts of about 10cm in length.

They suspect that an individual, or multiple individuals in the area, has access to the weapon, and used it on the birds.

ACRES condemned the act as causing innocent birds "pain and suffering":

"It is not only an act of cruelty and violence to put the innocent birds through pain and suffering, but possession of such weapons or sale of such items online should be strictly regulated considering the pain they can cause to any animal or human on whom it is targeted at."

Jurong resident alerted ACRES

Previously, on Feb. 29, a woman known as Sofia Khanafie on Facebook also posted about the pigeons.

It appeared that she was the one who first spotted the pigeons and alerted ACRES.

Khanafie also shared more photos of the rescued pigeon.
