Liang Court will be redeveloped into a shopping area with a hotel and residential towers by 2024.
In recent years, the mall has seen some of their biggest tenants closing shop.
This includes popular names like Kinokuniya and Saizeriya, who have departed the premises.
And Meidi-Ya supermarket is in line to leave.
Meidi-Ya vacating by Mar. 31
According to a circular posted outside the supermarket, Meidi-Ya will be vacating the premises by Mar. 31, 2020.
The supermarket has been operating in Liang Court for the past 17 years.
Once the Liang Court branch closes, their only other outlet will be at Great World City.
"We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for all your continuous support all these years," they said.
Here's some photos of the supermarket, which is known for importing a variety of goods from Japan:
Liang Court's history
Liang Court officially opened in January 1984, although the now-defunct departmental store Daimaru located at the mall’s basement level opened in November 1983.
The mall was initially a joint venture between Goh Cheng Liang Group and Daimaru Inc of Japan.
The mall has since changed hands several times, and was owned by Asian Retail Mall Fund II (ARMF II) from 2006 onwards.
It was once the go-to mall for Japanese goods and restaurants, before shops like Don Don Donki, Tokyu Hands, Daiso, popped up on the island.
