Covid-19: 64-year-old Indonesian man among 12 new confirmed cases on Mar. 8

The man arrived in Singapore on March 7, and was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection the next morning.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 12 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection on Sunday (Mar. 8).

One of the cases announced is an imported case, involving a 64-year-old male Indonesian national who arrived in Singapore on Mar. 7.

30 of the 150 confirmed cases are linked to SAFRA Jurong

According to MOH, the Indonesian national, who is Case 147 was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on the morning of Mar. 8, and is currently warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

It is unclear where exactly he arrived from.

Nine of the other cases announced on Mar. 8 are part of the cluster involving a private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong.

30 of the 150 confirmed cases of Covid-19 are currently linked to the dinner function at SAFRA Jurong.

Case 143 is linked to Case 132

Another confirmed case announced on Mar. 8 is Case 143, a 42-year-old male Singapore Permanent Resident who had been in Thailand from Mar. 4 to Mar. 6.

He reported onset of symptoms on Mar. 5 while he was in Thailand, and returned to Singapore on Mar. 6 night.

The man went directly to NUH from Changi Airport, where subsequent test results confirmed Covid-19 infection on Mar. 7 afternoon.

He stays at Tanglin Road.

He is a family member of Case 132.

Case 132 is likely to be an imported case involving a 37 year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident who had been in London from 23 February to 27 February. She is warded in an isolation room at the National University Hospital (NUH).

She reported onset of symptoms on February 29 and had sought treatment at two GP clinics on 29 February, 4 March and 5 March. She presented at the emergency department at NUH on 5 March. Subsequent test results confirmed COVID-19 infection on 6 March afternoon.
