The police tasered a 50-year-old man after a fight over toilet paper broke out at a departmental store in Tamworth, New South Wales (NSW), Australia, news.com.au reported.

Man assaulted staff and customer before being tasered

The fight took place in Big W, an Australian chain of discount department stores.

A man had allegedly argued with a staff and another customer before assaulting them.

The argument was believed to have been about toilet paper, which residents have been stockpiling in Australia due to panic over Covid-19.

The man had to be tasered during the arrest at Tamworth Shoppingworld just after 10am.

Daily Mail reported that a NSW police spokesperson said: "Police have been told a 50-year-old man began to argue with a staff member and another customer before he assaulted them at a department store in Bridge Street."

"Officers attended and during the man's arrest, he was tasered. He was then taken to Tamworth police station where he is assisting police with their inquiries."

According to news.com.au, no charges have been laid on the arrested man.

This incident comes a day after a woman pulled a knife on a fellow customer at a Woolworths store over toilet paper in Sydney.

Stores in Australia, such as Woolworths, Aldi and Coles will list the amount of toilet paper customers can buy, reported news.com.au.

Kimberly-Clark, which manufactures Kleenex Toilet Tissue, has now increased its production to 24 hours a day at its South Australia factory.

Currently, two people have died due to Covid-19 in Australia.
