Teachers leave their students with positive memories due to the extra energy and care they are willing to put in for their students.

One teacher in Malaysia literally went the extra mile as he trekked through the jungle for hours carrying a refrigerator on his back just to deliver it to his students.

Hiked with refrigerator for seven hours

The fridge-carrying teacher, Harry Yanko Bikal, was praised in a Facebook post by fellow teacher Hajah Maznah Abd Ghani, whose Facebook profile identifies her as a school counsellor.

In her post, Hajah Maznah explained that Harry had spent seven to eight hours carrying a refrigerator to a school in rural SK Longkugongon in Penampang.

She praised Harry for his dedication, writing, "May God bless your life, Teacher Harry. Your service as a Service Teacher in the rural area is truly touching".

"Your seven to eight hour journey with weight on your shoulders is unmatched by millions of ringgit as it is for your pupils, the rural students of SK Longkugongon Penampang", she added.

Crossed all sorts of terrain

The post also included a two-minute video comprised of clips of Harry hiking with a large cardboard box strapped to his back.

The video shows Harry taking on all sorts of terrains in his journey.

Fridge to allow students to have fresh food

According to Harian Metro, Harry said that the refrigerator had been donated by another teacher, and he brought it in order to make sure that the students in the hostel would have raw food for a few days so that they could prepare dishes.

He had to carry the refrigerator on his back, he explained, because the road conditions to SK Longkugongon weren't accessible to vehicles, due to hilly forests and river crossings.

He explained to Harian Metro that while it normally would take him three to five hours to walk to school.

With the fridge, it took him seven hours.

However, he said: "When I looked at the faces of the happy students who saw the refrigerator I had brought, all the fatigue vanished".

And his students did looked pretty delighted.
