The nationwide lockdown in Malaysia is expected to last till March 31.

Staying at home all day can be really stifling and boring for many. Some clearly have not taken the lockdown seriously as the government had to consider deploying police to ensure its people stay at home.

After holing up at home for five days, one Malaysian lady, Liow Pey Shan, decided to hold a concert to bring some joy to the people around her.

She was probably inspired to do so by others who had done similar acts during lockdowns in Italy and China.

Nevertheless, it took some courage to do so as she wrote in the caption of her Facebook live video:

"This is once in a lifetime! I decided to go all out! Come hear me sing!"

At the start of the live stream, Liow showed that she's gotten her lights and speaker ready on the kitchen countertop.

While she was fully prepared for this gig, she was still unsure how the neighbours would react initially, Liow said.

Soon after, she jumped onto the countertop and greeted the neighbours with her mic, saying "Kawan kawan" and "karaoke happy happy stay at home ah".

And she received a warm response from some of the residents as cheers can be heard in the background.

Liow kickstarted the concert with a Malay folk song "Rasa Sayang", followed by a classic Cantonese song "Loving You" as well as Disney classic "A Whole New World".

Forced to stop as guard was summoned

The live streaming lasted for 12 minutes and some residents even sang along with Liow.

Halfway through singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", she had to call a halt to her concert because a guard was coming up.

Here's what she said to the neighbours at the end, half-amused by the situation that she's gotten herself into and urged everyone to keep up with the positivity.

"Tonight our live performance, I think might have to end here. You know why? Because the guard is coming already, they say want to report police ah. Sorry everyone! Enjoy your night and sing karaoke at your home ah! Goodbye!"

Liow later confirmed that she had only been given a warning by the guard.

No police report was made against her.
