On Mar. 17, a 34-year-old man was reported to be the second Covid-19 death in Malaysia.
Safely buried
He passed away in Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru.
According to Astro Awani, around 10 people who were apparently hospital staff, were seen wearing personal protective equipment at his funeral.
They arrived at the cemetery at around 8:15pm on Mar. 17 and the man was safely buried at around 9pm.
Not allowed to attend funeral
The man's wife and child were apparently not allowed to be part of the burial process as they are still quarantined at Permai Hospital in Johor Bahru.
Media representatives who were at the funeral were also not allowed to be near the burial area and were asked to keep a distance of at least 50 metres.
Attended mass religious event
The deceased was one of the two deaths reported in Malaysia on Mar. 17.
The man was designated as Case 178 and he attended the mass religious event held at Sri Petaling mosque between Feb. 27 and Mar. 1.
He developed a fever on Mar. 5 and subsequently tested positive at Permai Hospital.
His condition then worsened and he was pronounced dead on Mar. 17.
