A man in Singapore diagnosed with Covid-19 had allegedly continued running his economical rice stall after experiencing the onset of symptoms, 8 World reported.

The Jurong Port Road Food Centre stall, owned by an elderly couple, is said to be relatively popular.

Cases 129 and 130

According to 8 World, both husband and wife were confirmed with the Covid-19 infection on Mar. 6 as Cases 129 and 130.

Case 129 is a 68 year-old female Singapore Citizen, while Case 130 is a 66 year-old male Singapore Citizen. Both cases are linked to the Safra Jurong cluster.

A subsequent update from the Ministry of Health (MOH) revealed that prior to hospital admission, the 66-year-old man had gone to work at Jurong Port Road Food Centre as a food handler, and visited Bukit Batok Community Club.

He experienced onset of symptoms on Feb. 24, and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on the same day.

He visited the clinic twice, on Feb. 29 and Mar. 1, before presenting himself at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) on Mar. 4.

His wife, on the other hand, had not been to work since onset of symptoms, MOH said.

The couple lives in Jurong West.

On good terms with neighbours

The drink stall owner that 8 World spoke to confirmed that the Cases 129 and 130 are indeed owners of the economical rice stall.

Besides being popular with customers, the economical rice stall owners were also on good terms with their neighbours.

The drink stall owner added that the couple's stall has not opened for 10 days, and that the last time he saw the husband was on Feb. 28.

He added that the entire hawker centre was disinfected on Mar. 8, and business has not been affected.
