Army deployed to enforce lockdown
On March 20, the country's total death cases exceeded China's fatalities.
The president of Lombardy, the Covid-19 epicentre in Italy, announced that the army will be deployed there to enforce the lockdown, Reuters reported.
Since the lockdown has been implemented, the situation in Lombardy has not improved significantly as Covid-19 cases continue to increase.
Some 114 soldiers will be on the ground in Lombardy to ensure residents comply with the restrictions.
