Ilian Mihov, the dean of business school INSEAD, has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

In an announcement on Sunday (Mar. 15), the school said Mihov started experiencing mild symptoms on Saturday (Mar. 14).

He then proceeded to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) to get tested. A nasal swab test indicated a positive diagnosis pm Sunday.

Mihov is currently isolated in a hospital here, the statement said.

Meanwhile, his close colleagues at the campus "have been put on a mandatory leave of absence," said the school. This will last 14 days, and they have been instructed to monitor their temperatures and health carefully.

Last present at Singapore campus on Mar. 9

Mihov was last present in the INSEAD Asia Campus at 1 Ayer Rajah Avenue on Mar. 9.

He then travelled to France where he visited the Europe Campus in Fontainebleau until Mar. 12. He returned to Singapore on Mar. 13.

INSEAD said the Asia Campus will remain open as per its business continuity plan, but no teaching will be taking place.

School campus disinfected

The school said it has also disinfected the areas Mihov worked prior to his diagnosis:

"The areas Mihov worked prior to his diagnosis have been thoroughly disinfected, including his office, the wider Dean’s office and common areas, meeting rooms, pantry and toilets. This includes all surfaces in high traffic areas such as lifts, handrails, door handles, desk and cupboard surfaces and bathroom facilities. Other areas he visited such as the INSEAD restaurant and coffee bar have also undergone thorough cleaning and disinfection."

Elsewhere, the school closed its Europe campus in France on Monday (Mar. 16), while lessons at its Middle East campus in Abu Dhabi has been suspended since Mar. 8.

It also noted that the INSEAD campus in Singapore has already implemented mandatory temperature checks and split-team working arrangements.

Cross-campus travel has also been suspended, the school added, while travel for all INSEAD employees has been cancelled until end-April.

All INSEAD events have also been cancelled until end-May, the school said.
