Before doing a CT scan

This photo, which was taken on March 5, involves a 27-year-old doctor and an elderly Covid-19 patient who had not been outside in about a month.

According to China Daily, the doctor Liu Kai was taking the 87-year-old patient to do a CT scan when he decided to wheel the patient out to enjoy the sunset together.

Both Liu and a volunteer worker took the patient out for several minutes, and that was when the volunteer worker snapped the photo of the patient and doctor.

The photo has since been widely circulated on Weibo and other social media sites.

Elderly patient

Liu was transferred to Wuhan from Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai about a month ago. That was when he encountered the elderly patient, who is currently hospitalised at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University.

Chinese media reported that the patient was first warded in early February, and his condition has stabilised over the past month.

Liu said, "I think getting some sunlight can help him recover".

In a subsequent video call with the patient, the patient was asked if he recalled seeing the sunset. He said: "I did, it felt great!"

The patient is also reportedly recovering well.
