The Ministry of Health announced two new cases of Covid-19 on Mar. 4, bringing the total number of local cases to 112.

Case 112 is a 62-year-old female staff at Creative O Preschoolers’ Bay.

MOH said that she is not a teaching staff.

The preschool is in 31 International Business Park, which is in Jurong East.

Founded in 1998, the school offers various programmes such as art, drama workshop, physical exercise, and character-building.

Its premises has a total floor space of 1,754 sqm, with two studios for movement activities and afternoon nap.

There is also an indoor and outdoor playground, with sand and water play.

Staff saw doctor promptly

In a statement by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), it was revealed that the staff became unwell a few hours into her shift on Feb. 21.

She went to see a doctor promptly and was placed on medical leave.

She has not been in the preschool since then.

ECDA has ordered the temporary closure of Creative O Preschoolers’ Bay from Mar. 5 to 6.

This covers the 14-day incubation period, as the staff was last in the preschool 12 days ago, the statement added.

All teachers and staff will be given a Leave of Absence during the closure period.

The preschool will resume programmes on Mar. 9. Contact tracing is ongoing.

Thorough cleaning and disinfection

ECDA also said that Creative O Preschoolers’ Bay will conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the preschool premises, and is closely monitoring its staff and parents on the health of their children.

Previously, the preschool had already implemented several recommended measures, including the restriction of visitors, suspension of large group and communal activities, as well as excursions and field trips.

It has been conducting health checks and is stepping up temperature screening for all children and staff.

In accordance with MOH’s guidelines, affected children are advised to stay at home during the closure period. They should avoid going to crowded places and attending social gatherings.

Linked to Case 94

The preschool staff is also linked to Case 94, a 64 year-old female Singapore citizen who in turn, is a family member of Case 96, the Raffles Institution student.

Case 94 reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 11 and was confirmed with the Covid-19 infection on the afternoon of Feb. 26.
