The number of people who have died from Covid-19 in Italy has exceeded that in China on March 20, 2020.
The Italy government announced 427 new death cases, bringing the total number of death cases in the country to 3,405.
China's total death toll is currently at 3,245.
On March 19, Italy reported 475 deaths, which is by far the highest single-day number of deaths reported in the world.
The country also reported a significant jump of over 5,000 new cases, bringing the total to 41,035 as of March 20.

Meanwhile, new Covid-19 cases have dropped drastically in China.
Hubei province, the epicentre of Covid-19 in China, reported zero cases on March 19.
