The last month of Chatuchak market in Singapore has been cancelled.

The event, which started its run on Feb. 4, was supposed to operate until May. 3, 2020.

However, organisers announced on Mar. 19 that the end date will be brought forward to Mar. 29 instead, due to the escalation of the Covid-19 situation.

This decision was also made in line with the government's recommendation of social distancing.

"The team at Chatuchak Singapore would like to express great gratitude for the support of everyone that has visited this market, even in these trying times, however [sic], shutting the market early would be the right thing to do," the organisers said in a statement.

Chatuchak 2 in the works

However, depending on how the pandemic pans out, version two of Chatuchak may be held as soon as July and August 2020.

Visitors have about 10 days left to visit the market.

The organisers urged those who are unwell to stay at home, and for the rest to wash their hand with soap frequently.
