Covid-19: Case 221 is employed as teaching staff at MY World Preschool in Lengkok Bahru

According to its website, the preschool also includes an infant care.

Case 221, one of the patients with a confirmed case of Covid-19 on Sunday (Mar. 15) is a 28-year-old Filipino woman employed as a teaching staff at MY World Preschool.

She is a Singapore Work Pass holder with no recent travel history to affected countries and regions.

She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Mar. 15 morning and is currently warded in an isolation room at NCID.

She is a contact of Case 204, a 32-year-old male American national who is also a Singapore Work Pass holder.

Case 204

Case 204 had been in Japan from Feb. 29 to Mar. 8, and is considered an imported case.

He reported the onset of symptoms on Mar. 11, and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on Mar. 12.

He presented at SGH on Mar. 12, and subsequent test results confirmed Covid-19 infection on Mar. 13 afternoon.

Prior to hospital admission, he had mostly stayed at his home in the Tanjong Pagar Road area.

MY World Preschool

According to MY World Preschool's website, it was founded by Metropolitan YMCA, and has been operating since 1980.

Their vision statement is "to be a child care of choice that builds strong kids, strong families, strong communities".

MY World has a number of preschool centres around the island.

Case 221 taught at the centre located at 52 Lengkok Bahru.

According to the MY World website, the preschool located at Lengkok Bahru also includes infant care.

MSF statement

The Ministry of Social and Family Development released a statement on the closure of the preschool, also on Mar. 15.

The staff with Covid-19 last attended the preschool on Mar. 13.

The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has therefore ordered the temporary closure of the preschool from Mar. 16 to Mar. 27.

This would cover the 14 day incubation period. Programmes will resume on March. 28.

During this time, all children, teachers and staff will be given a Leave of Absence.

MY World will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the premises and will closely monitor the health of its staff. Contact tracing is ongoing.
