As Mar. 3, 2020, Amazon has confirmed that one of their employees in Seattle, United States (U.S.), has been infected with Covid-19, reported The Verge.

Employee who tested positive for the coronavirus is under quarantine

According to a statement by an Amazon spokesperson to New York Times, the company said that it just learned that one of their employees tested positive and that they are “supporting the affected employee who is in quarantine”.

According to The Verge, the employee worked at the "Brazil" or SEA53 building in Seattle.

The employee who was found to be positive for Covid-19 was unwell on Feb. 25, 2020, and went home.

The employee has not been to Amazon premises since Feb. 25 and the company has notified those who have been in close contact with the affected employee.

According to the email, which was published by GeekWire, close contact was defined as prolong contact of 2 metres or less.

Two Amazon employees in Italy tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this week

On Mar. 2, Amazon confirmed that two of their employees in Milan, Italy, were infected with Covid-19, reported Reuters.

In addition, Amazon's Senior Vice President, Dave Clark, urged employees to not schedule meetings that call for travel until the end of Apr. 2020.

As for its product deliveries, Amazon has warned that customers might experience delays as people are turning to online retailers instead of going out due to fears over the coronavirus.

The company has also pulled over 1 million products from its marketplace as it is cracking down on merchants who are capitalising on items related to the coronavirus, such as face masks.
