More details have surfaced regarding patient 29,  who apparently had no obvious links to previous confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

Had lohei lunch in Jurong on day he developed symptoms

On the day the 41-year-old Singaporean developed signs of infection, he had a lohei lunch with around 20 colleagues at a Chinese restaurant in Jurong, The Straits Times reported.

The man was one of two new confirmed cases announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Feb. 6.

Initially, there was much speculation over how the man contracted the virus as he did not have a travel history to China, nor did he appear to have immediate links to any of the previous existing cases.

Here is what we know so far.

Breakdown of patient 29's movements from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3

On Jan. 28, the patient had come down with a fever.

That was also the same day he had lunch with his colleagues near his workplace in Jurong.

After going to two general practitioner (GP) clinics on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 respectively, he was then admitted to Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital on Feb. 3.

He was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus on Feb. 5 and transferred to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases to be isolated.

At least eight of the patient's colleagues have been quarantined

According to an official statement by one of the GP clinics, the man had visited the Seletar clinic firstly on Jan. 30 and again on Feb 3.

Here it is:

He also "appeared quite ill with gastrointestinal and respiratory symptoms, and a moderate fever", read the statement.

Although the man was "advised to go to the emergency department", "he was not conveyed to hospital via the dedicated ambulance service" as he "did not fulfil the MOH criteria for a suspect case."

The medical group has since assured its patients that the clinic's rooms, corridors, table tops, seats and examination couches have been "deep cleansed".

The physician who saw the man has also opted to take a leave of absence till Feb. 17, 2020.

On Feb. 7, government officials served the man's colleagues quarantine orders. At least eight of them have now been quarantined, ST reported.
