Infections update outside of China
The epidemic has been branded a global health emergency.
It is widely believed to have emerged in December 2019 in the Hubei provincial capital Wuhan.
There are now cases reported in more than 20 countries.
There has been one death outside China, in the Philippines.
Japan, Thailand and Singapore are the three regions with the most confirmed infections outside of China.
The Chinese government has said it "urgently" needs surgical masks, protective suits, and safety goggles as it battles to control the outbreak.
