Singapore's not alone.

On Jan. 31, the Singapore government announced an extension of existing travel restrictions on visitors from China.

Previously, people with a recent travel history in Hubei province in China, and Chinese citizens with passports issued in Hubei were denied entry into Singapore.

As the virus has spread to every province in China, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared an international emergency, the Singapore government implemented an extension of the travel ban.

Anyone with recent travel history in mainland China, or holding a PRC passport will be denied entry into Singapore, with certain exceptions.

However, Singapore is not the only country to have enacted travel restrictions on visitors from China.

Singapore's travel restrictions

With effect from 11:59pm on Feb. 1:

  • All new visitors with recent travel history to mainland China within the last 14 days will not be allowed entry into Singapore, or to transit through Singapore.
  • Anyone holding a PRC passport will be denied entry into Singapore, with certain exceptions.

Singaporean citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders will be allowed entry into Singapore and given a 14-day leave of absence.

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority has already suspended the issuance of all forms of new visas to those with PRC passports.

Singapore's status as a visa-free transit facility to those with PRC passports has also been suspended.
