A Venus Beauty employee at NEX shopping mall has been fired for selling her own masks to customers, The New Paper (TNP) reports.

A police report has also been lodged over the matter.

Customers of the beauty store were informed via a notice at the counter.

The full notice reads,

"Disclaimer

It has come to our attention that one of our part-time staff (ex staff) was selling mask from her own account.

She was doing sale to Venus Beauty customers without company's knowledge and consent.

She has stopped working at Venus Beauty.

We have lodged a police report on this incident.

Please quote this reference number [police report number] if you wish to lodge a police report."

According to TNP, the police have confirmed that a report was indeed made.

The publication also spoke to another worker from the store, who revealed that the employee in question was sacked after a customer complaint.

She had been with the store for about two to three months prior to the dismissal.

Printout of WhatsApp conversation

TNP adds that a WhatsApp conversation between the ex-employee and a customer is also displayed at the counter.

The ex-employee allegedly told the customer that Venus had no more stock, and that she was selling masks from her brother's company.

She claimed that the masks were made in Britain, and charged S$25.50 for a box of 20 three-ply masks, TNP reveals.

She apparently had 100 boxes to sell.

Venus Beauty is known for selling toiletries, beauty and personal care products at lower prices.

The brand has 25 outlets across Singapore.
