Families mourn for doctors' passing
Xia Sisi, 29, and Huang Wenjun, 42, were doctors working in Hubei province. Xia worked in a hospital in Wuhan, the epicentre of the virus.
Both doctors died within 24 hours of each other.
Xia, a gastroenterology doctor at the Union Jiangbei Hospital, passed away on Feb. 23, 2020.
She was hospitalised on Jan. 19 and transferred to another hospital on Feb. 7 when her situation worsened.
According to an interview with Xia's mother, she had been unconscious since she was transferred about two weeks ago.
She has a two-year-old son and husband.
Huang, who passed away on the evening of Feb. 23, was a doctor specialising in respiratory medicine at Xiaogan Central Hospital, Hubei.
According to Huang's wife, the doctor initially quarantined himself after falling ill. However, she felt that something was amiss, and sent him to the hospital on the third day, where he was confirmed with Covid-19 and hospitalised.
They have an 11-year-old son.
Tributes have been pouring in on Chinese social media platform Weibo for the two doctors.
