"Crash Landing On You" (CLOY) is shaping up to be the most popular Korean drama for 2020.

The romantic-comedy features South Korean actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin as leads.

Son was born and raised in the south-eastern city of Daegu, where more than half of the total confirmed cases in South Korea were reported to be from.

With the ever-rising cases of infection, Daegu is also running out of resources to manage and contain the spread of Covid-19.

The South Korean government classified the city as a "special care zone" to pump in more resources and manpower.

In these difficult times, Son has reportedly donated 100 million (about S$114,945) won to help her hometown in the fight against Covid-19.

Soompi reported on Feb. 27 that the actress donated 100 million won to the Daegu branch of the Community Chest of Korea.

Son also added that her parents are currently still living in Daegu, and what's happening in her hometown is especially heartbreaking for her.

She hopes her donation can help the lower-income residents, as well as the general efforts to manage Covid-19 in the city.
