Hong Kong movie star-turned-chef Nicholas Tse is closing all outlets of his cookie business in Hong Kong.

According to The Straits Times, Tse closed the main branch of Chef Nic's Cookies in end 2019, and has closed a couple of smaller outlets -- such as those in the airport and Kowloon -- by February this year.

Oriental Daily News quoted an employee who said that Tse will be selling his cookies online to control costs and quality.

8 Days reported that he will be closing the rest of the outlets for good because of Covid-19 outbreak-induced slump.

According to 8 Daysthe company said:

“Our long-term goal is to reopen our physical stores. At this point of time, we’re unable to give a definite timeline, and we are in discussions with other brands to see if collaborations are suitable. We will also be releasing new products online soon.”

Cecilia Cheung also closed her business

Similarly, Tse's ex-wife Cecilia Cheung closed her fashion boutique, SeeCeciStreet, a month ago due to the outbreak.

According to Sohu, Cheung has been losing “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from the closure, but her manager said that she has no plans yet to resume the business.

The manager also added that the employees were not asked to take no-pay leave and the decision to close the boutique is in the interest of the employees.
