Mediacorp postpones Star Awards ceremony to second half of 2020 due to Covid-19

It was initially scheduled to be held on April 26, 2020.

The 26th Star Awards ceremony was initially scheduled to be held on April 26, 2020.

However, Mediacorp has decided to postpone this year's award ceremony to the second half of 2020 in light of the current novel coronavirus (Covid-19) situation.

According to a statement by Mediacorp on Feb. 19, this precautionary measure was put in place to "ensure the well-being of all artistes, crew and guests" after much consideration.

In addition, Mediacorp has stated that they will "focus on rallying behind the national effort of combatting Covid-19 during this period."

Although a new date has not been fixed yet, Mediacorp has mentioned that more details would be shared "in due course".

Held since 1994, the Star Awards is an annual award ceremony by Mediacorp to celebrate the achievements of the best in local entertainment over the past year.

As of 2019, more than 30 awards were given out over three categories during the awards ceremony.

In 2020, YouTube will also broadcast a live stream of the awards ceremony, which global audiences can view.
