On Jan. 30, the government announced that they would be distributing 5.2 million masks to 1.37 million Singapore households.

This was part of an effort to ease the shortage of masks in Singapore.

Deadline extended

The mask distribution began on Feb. 1, 2020 and was originally expected to end today (Feb. 9).

However, the People’s Association (PA) announced in a media release that the deadline for the mask collection will be extended till Feb. 29, 2020.

As of Feb. 8, 54 per cent of the 1.37 million households have collected the masks from 89 Community Clubs (CCs) and 654 Residents’ Committee (RC) centres.

Once the deadline ends, all remaining masks will be returned to the national stockpile.

The masks are for one-time use and are meant for people who are ill to avoid infecting others.

All local households in public and private housing estates are eligible.

Collection of the masks will be held at the CCs during opening hours.

How to collect the masks

The masks (a total of four in one sealed bag) can be collected only once for each household.

Those collecting the masks must bring along their identity card.

To find out which CC or RC you should be collecting from, head over to the Maskgowhere website.

All you need to do is to input your postal code and the necessary details will be provided.

Singaporeans can also call 1800-333-9999 if they have questions about the mask collection.

The masks will be delivered to those who are vulnerable and cannot collect them.
