Reporters camping outside the palace gates at Malaysia's Istana Negara were treated to free food again on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

This was their third day of waiting outside Istana Negara covering the political scramble that started unfolding on the evening of Sunday, Feb. 23.

According to an update by Malaysiakini, the palace handed lunch boxes of tempoyak ikan patin -- a kind of stew cooked with freshwater silver catfish -- to members of the media outside the palace.

The dish is a local delicacy from Pahang -- the birthplace of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah.

Here's what a typical dish looks like:

Other than the free food, a Milo truck was there earlier during the day as well.

KFC & McDonald's for past two days

Reporters were previously treated to KFC and McDonald's on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 24 and 25.

The flurry of news from Malaysia intensified with the news of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's resignation, and then being appointed as interim PM by the King within the same day, Feb. 24.

The Malaysian king had spent the next day, Feb. 25, interviewing members of parliament to determine their views on who should be Prime Minister, or if they should have a snap election.

It is rumoured that all Pakatan Harapan MPs have declared their support for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim as PM, Malaysiakini reported.

However, PKR Secretary-General Saifuddin Naisution Ismail denied media reports that he told a newspaper that PKR MPs had nominated a PKR member for the post of Prime Minister, according to Malay Mail.

Other sources indicate that Mahathir's hold on power would not be shaken anytime soon.
