Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia's fourth, seventh and interim Prime Minister, still has a card left to play.
Real time political transparency through social media.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Malaysia's King, proclaimed at about 5:00 pm on Feb. 29 that he believed Muhyiddin Yassin commanded the support of a majority of Members of Parliament, and would appoint him as Prime Minister.
Muhyiddin, the president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), is set to be officially sworn in as Malaysia's eighth Prime Minister on March 1.
Mahathir's salvo
But late in the night on Feb. 29, Mahathir released a list of 114 MPs who supposedly support him as their choice for Prime Minister.

Mahathir said that he wished to explain, that as the Chairman of Bersatu, he and five other MPs do not support Muhyiddin's appointment as Prime Minister.
The five Bersatu MPs include his son Mukhriz Mahathir, former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and former Education Minister Maszlee Malik.
However, Maszlee now appears to be backing Muhyiddin, as reported by Malaysiakini.
Mahathir included a list of MPs who supposedly support him, which add up to 114. This would be enough for a majority in the Dewan Rakyat (Malaysia's Parliament), which has 222 seats in total.
Mahathir said he hopes that the king will accept his letter and his explanation.
Meanwhile, Anwar also tweeted that 114 MPs were backing Mahathir, and that there were more to come, God willing.
