Hours of fire fighting

However, due to deep-seated piles, coupled with the abundance of dry vegetation and windy condition, the SCDF firefighters are still on the ground trying to put out the fire completely, a spokesperson confirmed.

The company's excavators were used to create physical gaps between materials that could burn to impede the spread of fire.

This is expected to be a prolonged firefighting operation.
