3 new cases of Covid-19 in S’pore, 5 more patients discharged

Five more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from the hospital today.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed three more cases of Covid-19, on Feb. 19, 2020.

This brings the total to 84 cases.

Five more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from the hospital today.

In total there have been 34 people discharged.

Patient 82

Patient 82 is a 57 year-old female Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China. She is currently warded in an isolation room at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

She reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 9 and had sought treatment at Jurong Polyclinic on Feb. 10 and on Feb. 14, as well as from a general practitioner(GP) clinic on Feb. 12.

She went to the emergency department at NTFGH on Feb. 13 and Feb. 15, and was admitted as a dengue patient in a general ward Feb. 15.

She subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 infection on Feb. 18 afternoon, and was immediately transferred to an isolation room.

As a precautionary measure, the patients who had shared the same room as her while she had been in the general ward have been transferred to single rooms.

They have been tested for COVID-19 infection, and the results are pending.

So far, none of the contacts have any respiratory symptoms.

Contact tracing of NTFGH staff who had been in contact with the case is also underway. The room has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Prior to her hospital admission, she had mostly stayed at home at Jurong West Street 41, except to seek medical treatment.

Patient 83

Patient 83 is a 54 year-old male Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China, but who travels frequently to Malaysia for work purposes.

He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 19 February morning, and is currently warded in an isolation room at NCID.

There are four cases in the ICU.

Case 84

Case 84 is a 35 year-old female Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China.

She was confirmed to have been infected with Covid-19 on the morning of Feb. 19, and is currently warded in an isolation room at NCID.

She is linked to Case 66, a 28 year-old male Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China and is linked in turn to the cluster at Grace Assembly of God.

Previous 81 cases

Case 80 (Announced on February 18)

Case 80 is a 38 year-old female Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China, and stays at Fernvale Link.

She is currently warded in an isolation room at the National University Hospital (NUH) and is also linked to Case 66.

She had reported an onset of symptoms on Feb. 4 and had sought treatment at a

GP clinic on Feb. 4 and Feb. 10.

She was referred to NUH for a chest X-ray on Feb. 11, and went back to NUH again on Feb. 17.

She subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 on the morning of Feb. 18.

Prior to hospitalisation, she had gone to work at NUH, where she performs an administrative function, and had not interacted with patients since the onset of symptoms.

Case 81 (Announced on February 18)

Case 81 is a 50 year-old male Singapore Citizen with no recent travel history to China.

He is currently warded in an isolation room at NCID. He is linked to the cluster at Grace Assembly of God.

He reported the onset of symptoms on Feb. 16 and had been conveyed by ambulance to NCID following a phone consultation with a GP.

Subsequent test results confirmed he had been infected with Covid-19 on the morning of Feb. 18.

Prior to hospitalisation, he had mostly remained at his home at Lower Delta Road.

There were 81 confirmed cases prior to today's new cases.

21 of the confirmed cases had been linked to the Grace Assembly of God, making them one of the largest Covid-19 clusters.

As of Feb. 18, 29 had fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from the hospital.

Five more cases of Covid-19 infection were discharged from hospital on Feb.18 (Cases 5, 8, 21, 38 and 76).
