A member of Korean Air's cabin crew has tested positive for the Covid-19 novel coronavirus, according to a Reuters report.

The airline confirmed this in a statement on Feb. 25, and has reportedly closed its office near Incheon International Airport.

The Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) had notified the carrier about its employee who was a confirmed Covid-19 patient, an airline spokeswoman told Reuters.

Details of routes and flights the cabin crew member went on have not been revealed yet.

Earlier on Monday (Feb. 24), Korean Air and Asiana Airlines announced they are suspending flights to the southeastern city of Daegu, where the majority of South Korea's confirmed Covid-19 cases are currently situated.

Korean Air is halting all its flights to Daegu until March 28, while Asiana will cancel its flights to the city until March 9.

As of Feb. 25, South Korea has reported close to 900 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The country has the most number of Covid-19 cases outside China, prompting several other countries to issue travel advisories or bans.
