A private hire driver was allegedly assaulted, verbally abused and had his camera stolen after picking up three passengers at Prinsep Street on Feb. 9.

Vomited in car and did not want to pay cleaning fee

According to a Facebook post by one Haileyluv Jiiny, the driver, who has not been named, had picked up a female and two male passengers, all in their 20s to 30s.

At around 12:50am, on their way to Blk 886 Jurong West Street 81, one of the male passengers vomited in the car, the driver recalled.

Photos uploaded show the rather unsightly contents strewn across the backseat and middle compartment.

According to the police report attached in the post, the driver then informed the trio that they would need to pay for the cleaning fee.

This piece of information, however, did not seem to sit well with the other male passenger, who according to the driver's police report, proceeded to raise his voice and berate the driver using vulgarities.

The said male passenger also allegedly "started shouting into [his] ear" and even pulled the driver's left ear, according to the police report.

The passenger subsequently ceased the physical assault after the driver asked him to stop it, but continued the verbal abuse until they arrived at their destination at around 1:10am.

Bitten and car's camera stolen

There, the driver recounted that the male passenger alighted and allegedly attempted to drag the driver out of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the female passenger removed and took his in-car camera before alighting at Blk 886.

The driver was then instructed to send the other male passenger who vomited earlier on to Blk 716 Jurong West Street 71.

The driver added that he did not call the police immediately as he was afraid that the duo would "do something to [him]".

The police called for an ambulance while the driver lodged the report and paramedics found bruises on his left arm as well as a bite mark.

In the police report, the driver recalled experiencing pain on his upper left arm and believed it was caused by the male passenger during the incident.

The driver also received a medical report from Ng Teng Fong General Hospital to support his case.

He is currently appealing for witnesses, and you can view the full post here:

Grab investigating

In response to Mothership's queries, Grab said they are aware of the incident, and had suspended "said passenger", who had bitten the driver, from the platform as investigations are ongoing.

Grab is also offering assistance and support to the driver.

"Grab has zero tolerance for indecent behaviour, harassment or abuse of any kind. We strongly urge both passengers and driver-partners to treat each with respect," they stated.
