Coronavirus: Over 40,000 confirmed cases, 4,000 discharged & 1,000 deaths reported in China on Feb. 11

By the end of Feb. 10, the number of deaths caused by the coronavirus has passed 1,000 in China.

Total of 1,016 deaths in China, 108 new deaths

According to the National Health Commission (NHC) in China on Feb. 11, a total of 1,016 deaths in mainland China has been recorded at 24:00, Feb. 10.

Out of the 108 new deaths that occurred on Feb. 10, 2020, 103 happened in Hubei province.

The five other new deaths on Feb. 10, 2020, occurred in the provinces of Anhui and Heilongjiang, Henan, and the cities of Tianjin and Beijing.

Total of 42,638 confirmed cases in China, 2,478 new cases

There have been a total of 42,638 confirmed cases of coronavirus patients in mainland China.

Out of the 2,478 new cases that were confirmed, 2,097 were in Hubei province.

There are 3,536 new cases of suspected cases and 849 new serious cases in the country by end of Feb. 10.

Total of 3,996 discharged in China

A total of 3,996 cases have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals in mainland China, according to the report dated Feb. 11, 2020.

Out of the 716 patients that were discharged on Feb. 10, 2020, 427 patients were from the Hubei province.

President visits Beijing hospital

On Monday (Feb. 10), Chinese President Xi Jinping visited a hospital in Beijing to learn about the treatment of patients who were infected with the coronavirus and to thank medical workers on the front line, reported People's Daily, China.

According to CNA, an advance team for a World Health Organization (WHO) landed in China on Monday.

The team is headed by Bruce Aylward who oversaw WHO's response to the Ebola epidemic in West Africa from 2014 to 2016.

Speaking at a press conference, WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed concern over cases outside China, where people were being infected by the coronavirus despite having no travel history to China.
