On Feb. 21, Chengdu City's public health clinical centre reported that a Covid-19 patient who was discharged after recovering from the disease had been re-infected again, Reuters reports.
Patient tested positive for 2nd time during home quaratine
The patient had apparently tested positive for the virus a second time during his home quarantine period.
In a statement, the clinical centre mentioned that similar cases have also been reported in regions outside the south-western Sichuan province.
To minimise the risk of contracting other pathogens, China's National Health Commission has advised patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to "monitor their health for 14 days, wear masks and reduce outdoor activities after leaving hospitals."
Reported discharge cases in China now stand at 18,640
As of Feb. 21, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in mainland China is more than 75,400, whilst the number of reported deaths stands at over 2,200.
The number of discharge cases reported in mainland China has also risen to 18,640.
