Covid-19 confirmed case is a member of Bishan CC gym, gym to be closed & disinfected

The member had not visited the Bishan outlet since Feb. 6.

A patient who was confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 is a member of a gym in Bishan.

Confirmed case was a GYMMBOXX member

GYMMBOXX confirmed this in a Facebook post earlier today (Feb. 23), saying that they had received a call from the Ministry of Health on Saturday night (Feb. 22), informing them that one of their gym members has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

The gym announced that they will be closing their Bishan branch immediately, until further notice.

They also assured the public that they will engage an NEA-appointed agent to carry out the required disinfection procedures to ensure that all equipment in the gym will be safe for use.

The gym will be reopened once the necessary measures have been taken.

In the comments, GYMMBOXX also clarified that the member of the gym had not visited since Feb. 6.

They also urge all members and guests to adopt precautionary measures and good personal hygiene.

GYMMBOXX has other branches all over Singapore, including Paya Lebar, Bedok, Tampines, Keat Hong and Jurong.

Their Bishan branch is located within Bishan CC.

CC to be thoroughly disinfected

In response to this, Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Chong Kee Hiong also put out a Facebook post on Sunday (Feb. 23) regarding this matter.

Chong added that the CC will continue to do thorough cleaning of the premises and common areas.

As of Sunday (Feb. 23), Singapore has 89 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Out of these 89 cases, 49 have been discharged.
