Elderly man wields glass bottle at bleeding man, fights off bystanders at Upper Cross St coffee shop

Both were conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.

An altercation involving two elderly man occurred at a coffee shop on the evening of Feb. 3, 2020.

The incident took place at S-11 coffee shop along 34 Upper Cross St.

A video posted to Facebook page Sibei Singapore shows one man sitting on the floor in the middle of the walkway.

The man appears to be bleeding profusely from a wound on his head, while several people around try to stem the bleeding with tissues.

The camera then pans to another man stalking over barefoot with a glass beer bottle in hand.

He attempts to hit the first man with the bottle, but is fended off by bystanders. A woman then yells "Enough!" at the man in Hokkien.

The second man however, is undeterred, and discards the bottle to hit the first man with his fists.

Other bystanders manage to push him away in the midst of his assault, and one younger man proceeds to tackle him to the ground.

However, the elderly man struggles free and picks up a plastic stool, almost ready to throw it at the crowd.

He then walks away abruptly, stool in hand.

It is uncertain what or who instigated the assault.

Elderly man arrested

The Police told Mothership that they were alerted to a dispute at around 6:10pm.

The two men involved were 63 and 67-years-old, and were conscious when conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.

The 63-year-old man was subsequently arrested for a rash act causing hurt and criminal force.

The Police said that investigations are ongoing.
