Local officials in China have put up banners sporting hilarious slogans to remind people of the safety precautions they have to take during the covonavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Hilarious threats

Some of the slogans -- an integral part of Chinese politics that were first used during the Mao era -- even read like borderline threats.

Here are some that were shared on Chinese social media.

"Not wearing a mask is like swimming in a cesspool."

"If you bring the disease back to the village, don't acknowledge anyone, not even your relatives; anyone who dares to come from Wuhan, don't receive them."

“Save a few cents not wearing a mask, spend a fortune getting treated on your sickbed."

"If you come back to the village with the illness, you're an unfilial son, if you infect your parents, you've no conscience."

"A bite of wild animal today, a gathering in hell tomorrow."
