26-year-old woman arrested and charged

On Feb. 15, a 26-year-old Singaporean woman was charged with exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years old.

The Bedok Police Division was able to identify the suspect, who is believed to be the mother of the baby, through investigations on the ground and footage from CCTVs in the neighbourhood.

The woman was eventually arrested on Feb. 13.

Her identity cannot be revealed due to a gag order to protect the baby's identity.

Police said that they are still finding the identity of the baby's father.

Baby is now under the care of foster parents

According to The Straits Times, the baby boy is now placed under the care of foster parents.

His mother will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for psychiatric observation and will return to court on Feb. 28.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) said via ST: "The MSF will closely monitor the continued well-being of the child."
