Initial D might be a thing of the past.

But it seems one person in Singapore is still living the fast-track anime life.

1983 car

A Toyota AE86 was recently spotted in a carpark at Bukit Batok by one Facebook user, Dennis Yap.

Yap then proceeded to post a photo of his sighting online. The post has since gone viral, garnering over 1,300 shares in two days.

Here's the car, in all its glory.

Toyota AE86 was a generation of Japanese car models introduced in 1983 as part of the Toyota Corolla fifth generation lineup.

Pretty iconic model

The model sighted above appears to be that of a Toyota Sprinter Trueno, which is pretty iconic both in pop culture and racing sports.

The Sprinter Trueno is the car of choice of racing legend and professional race car driver Keiichi Tsuchiya, who popularised drifting.

Tsuchiya reportedly started street racing with the AE86, also known in Japan as the hachi-roku (which means "Eight Six" in Japanese).

The now 64-year-old has owned an AE86 since 1984, and claims to still drive it to this day.

The AE86 subsequently rose to even greater fame when the hugely successful Initial D manga was released.

Takumi Fujiwara, the main character of Initial D, used his father's Trueno to street race and make tofu deliveries.

Which has likely made the car particularly iconic in the eyes of many fans.

And if you're a car otaku, here's are some other lesser-seen cars in Singapore.
