Germany has confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus, CNN reports.

In "good condition"

In a press release on Jan. 27, the Bavarian Ministry of Health in Munich said that a man in Starnberg has contracted the virus.

The patient, who has been isolated, is "clinically in good condition".

He will also be monitored medically.

Those who have been in close contact with the patient have been informed of his condition as well as the possible symptoms, hygiene measures, and transmission channels, the press release said.

The ministry considers the risk of infection low for the Bavarian population.

France was the first European country to be affected by the outbreak, which has three confirmed cases.

There have been more than 100 reported deaths and more than 4,000 cases of infection worldwide.

Singapore has five confirmed cases so far.
