Sean Kee Duck Rice opens new air-conditioned outlet at Tanjong Pagar, calls it Ya Lor

If you love Sean Kee Duck Rice's boneless braised duck rice, you might want to visit their new outlet at Guoco Tower in Tanjong Pagar.

Named "Ya Lor" ("Ya" is Chinese for "duck" while "Lor" is Hokkien for "braised"), this second outlet is a very modern and chic take on the kopitiams of old with its neon signs and air-conditioning.

You can get the Signature Braised Duck Rice (S$6.90) which comes with braised duck, peanuts, braised egg, and braised beancurd and bean sprouts.

For a dollar more, you can have all the above and fishcake in the Premium Braised Duck Rice (S$7.90).

The Premium Braised Duck Set (S$17.90) is enough for two persons, and it comes with two beverages.

If you're feeling particularly rich, you can get the Braised Drumstick Duck Rice (S$8.90) and if you're looking for something soupy, there's the Braised Duck Noodle/Kway Teow (S$5.90).

For the same price, you can have the Braised Duck Porridge (S$5.90).

Known for tender duck and sweet braising sauce

If you're wondering what's the fuss about Sean Kee Duck Rice at Lorong 35 Geylang, the place is known for its Hokkien-style braised duck (duh!) which is very tender, as well as its sweet braising sauce, balanced with spices.

The overall dish -- consisting of peanuts, bean sprouts, tender duck, and cucumber slices -- is an incredibly gooey yet incredibly tasty mess:

What you might not know is that Sean Kee's braising sauce is kept bubbling in a large pot 24/7 located at their central kitchen in Bedok, according to ieatishootipost.

New ingredients are added the sauce daily, and batches of duck meat are braised in the sauce for about an hour.
